One of the tremendously fun things about working with toddlers and preschoolers is teaching them to say their first words! Last spring I took a class called Baby Signs: Sign Language for Babies. The concept is that teaching kids sign language while they are also learning speech provides these babes a way to communicate with others, even when they are not ready to do so verbally. Of course, as a Speech and Language Pathologist, I was interested in using baby signs with my speech delayed and hard of hearing or deaf students, but there are advantages to using sign language with all babies!
Words to write, words to read, words to share, journals, journeys, scrapbooks, yearbooks.... sharing the stories in my life.

March Madness
An entire month plus a few days has gone by since I last posted. March Madness is supposed to be an energetic basketball tournament time, but it felt more like a nightmarish game of dodge ball to me. One stressful scenario after another popped up in my life and I needed more than ever to call upon my faith when I was too exhausted to do more than say, "Here, could You steer my ship for me, Lord?" And God, always faithful, sees us through to the other side of the stormy bay.
Only a week to go until I'm on spring break and can renew my spirit and body again. I will be back to post some of the positive things that have happened very soon.
